My first shawl from Dechen Designs was a gift from my sister. I loved it, and each time I wore it, people would stop me in otherwise aloof Manhattan to compliment me, and ask me where I got it. "From my sister in California," I'd say lamely but truthfully. I hunted Dechen down to see if she had more like that. With great good luck, I found her website, and then, since she didn't have a show coming up immediately, we met. She is personally as lovely as her art wear, and I now own a handful more of her shawls. The colors are saturated and gorgeous; the quality of the silk and cashmere is first rate. The garments are reasonably priced, given their high quality, and Dechen donates a portion of her proceeds to Save the Children in Nepal. These shawls give me satisfaction in every way.
